Biopharma PEG Expands Functionalized PEG Linker Portfolio for Bioconjugation Research
WATERTOWN, MA — Biopharma PEG Scientific Inc. is expanding its portfolio of functionalized polyethylene glycol (PEG) linkers to support research in bioconjugation, bioorthogonal chemistry, drug delivery, and related biopharmaceutical applications.
Functionalized PEG linkers are used in a range of research workflows where researchers need to connect biomolecules or other molecular components while introducing a defined spacer and reactive group. The choice of PEG length, molecular architecture, and terminal functionality can be important when developing and optimizing conjugation strategies.
Biopharma PEG's portfolio includes azide, alkyne, DBCO, and BCN PEG derivatives, as well as PEGs functionalized with amine, thiol, NHS ester, maleimide, carboxylic acid, and other commonly used reactive groups.
The portfolio supports both copper-catalyzed and copper-free click chemistry approaches. Azide and alkyne PEGs can be used in copper-catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), while DBCO and BCN PEGs provide options for strain-promoted azide–alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC).
In addition to click chemistry applications, functionalized PEG derivatives can be used in protein and peptide conjugation, molecular labeling, biomaterial research, drug delivery studies, and other bioconjugation workflows.
“We hope to provide high-purity PEG linkers that give researchers practical choices for their specific chemistry and application,” said Sonia Lee, Head of Business Development at Biopharma PEG. “Different research programs can require different PEG lengths, architectures, and functional groups, and we aim to support those requirements with both catalog and custom PEG solutions.”
Supporting Different PEG Linker Requirements
Biopharma PEG provides monodispersed and polydispersed PEG derivatives covering a range of molecular weights, chain lengths, and architectures. Linear PEGs and multi-arm PEG structures are available for research applications requiring different molecular configurations.
For projects that require structures not available as standard catalog products, Biopharma PEG also provides custom PEG synthesis. Custom projects can be developed around specific molecular weights, functional groups, PEG architectures, and other structural requirements.
The company's PEG portfolio is intended to support researchers from early-stage laboratory studies through more advanced development programs requiring defined PEG building blocks and conjugation materials.
By expanding its functionalized PEG portfolio, Biopharma PEG aims to provide researchers with broader options for designing and evaluating bioconjugation strategies across pharmaceutical and biotechnology research.
