MIB Agents Osteosarcoma Alliance Appoints Katherine Azima as Co-Director of Scientific Programs  

Katherine Azima joins nonprofit to help expand collaborative research efforts aimed at improving outcomes for osteosarcoma patients  

 

BARNARD, Vt. — [July 20, 2026] — MIB Agents Osteosarcoma Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to Making It Better for the osteosarcoma community through research, education and patient support, today announced that Katherine Azima has joined the organization as Co-Director of Scientific Programs.  

In this role, Azima will work alongside Christina Ip-Toma, Co-Director of Scientific Programs, until Ip-Toma retires at the end of the year, to help lead and expand MIB Agents' growing portfolio of scientific initiatives, fostering collaboration among researchers, clinicians, industry partners and patient advocates to accelerate progress in osteosarcoma research.

Azima joins MIB Agents with over 20 years of organizational communication and marketing experience for both start-up and fortune 500 health care brands.  Throughout her career, she has specialized in translating complex scientific and technical ideas into clear, trustworthy narratives that stakeholders can understand and act on. Azima’s commitment to this mission is deeply personal. For six years, she walked alongside her son, Buddy, through his six years of treatment for osteosarcoma, and ultimately lost him to the disease. His journey continues to inspire her work to advance research, improve treatment options and bring hope to families facing osteosarcoma through her role at MIB Agents.

As Co-Director of Scientific Programs, Azima will help oversee and expand several of MIB Agents' signature scientific initiatives, including:  

  • The FACTOR Conference, the world's leading annual osteosarcoma conference that brings together patients, families, researchers, clinicians and industry partners to foster collaboration and accelerate research.  
  • MIB Agents OsteoBites Podcast, a weekly webinar series that features interviews with osteosarcoma experts that share updates on research, innovation and clinical trials.
