Nov 2, 2020, 15:45 PM by

Matexcel, a company that specialized in providing materials and services for worldwide researchers in academia and industry, recently announced the release of a series of collagen products that can be used for tissue-culture, gel, drug delivery, skin replacement, and bone substitutes and so on.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in mammals, accounting for 25% to 30% of the total protein. It is widely present in all tissues from the body surface of lower vertebrates to the mammalian body. The collagen monomer is a long cylindrical protein with a length of about 280 nm and a diameter of 1.4~1.5 nm. It consists of three polypeptide chains entwined in a super-coiled form. Collagen is composed of a group of proteins with slightly different structures. 27 different types of collagen have been found. According to the order of discovery, they are divided into type I collagen, type II collagen, and type IM collagen. The most common type is type I collagen.

Collagen is a helical fibrous protein twisted by three peptide chains. It is an important protein in animal connective tissue. In addition to 60-70% of water in connective tissue, collagen accounts for about 20-30%. Because of the high content of collagen, connective tissue has certain structure and mechanical mechanics properties, such as tensile strength, tensile strength, elasticity, etc., to achieve the function of support and protection.

Now, Matexcel provides type I to VI collagen products for its customers to choose. Those products are from different species, different tissues, and have different structures and functions.

Some of the products include: Collagen from rat tail tendon, Collagen from calf skin, Collagen from human placenta (Type IV), Collagen from human placenta (Type I), Recombinant Human Collagen, Collagen from human skin, Collagen from bovine achilles tendon, Collagen solution from bovine skin, Collagen from chicken sternal cartilage (Type II), etc.

Moreover, Matexcel provides other natural material products like Chitosan, Fibroin, Hyaluronic Acid, and Chitosan Oligosaccharide to support different requirements.
