RENO, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Crucial Data Solutions, Inc. (CDS), a provider of innovative software to advance clinical research, and Durham Technical Community College, an academic institution in North Carolina, announced today they have formed an academic partnership.

“We're excited to have been selected by Durham Tech to help their students develop the skills and experiences to succeed and ensure their graduates are prepared when entering the field of clinical research,“ said Jeff Rogers, President of Crucial Data Solutions. “The Raleigh/Durham area is home to many research organizations, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to support this community and offer TrialKit to support the next generation of clinical researchers and data scientists. CDS' mission of putting technology into the hands of researchers couldn't be more appropriate and evident than in this partnership.”

As of the spring semester 2020, Durham Tech’s Clinical Trials Research Associate and Medical Product Safety/Pharmacovigilance Programs have been using CDS’ data collection and study management platform, TrialKit, to teach students about regulatory-compliant clinical research processes. Initially, students are developing study design and data management skills in both the web browser and native mobile app environments offered through the TrialKit platform. Then, the full functionality of the TrialKit platform will be incorporated into the curriculum by expanding into courses across both programs. TrialKit, an end-to-end solution, provides functionality for electronic data capture (EDC), electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePRO), clinical trial management (CTMS), and randomization and trial supply management (RTSM).

“Through our partnership with Crucial Data Solutions, I am able to provide my students a hands-on learning environment where they can learn new skills and immediately apply them to real-world situations,“ said Dr. William Gluck, Program Director at Durham Tech. “And, due to the remote nature of the TrialKit platform, students in the program have been able to continue learning without interruption during this period of distance learning. Having had many years of industry experience in clinical data management, I know TrialKit is sound and meets the needs of the industry. Plus, the use of the mobile application is cutting edge so I am excited that our students will have this unique opportunity to work with and gain experience on the TrialKit platform.”
